Desktop Screen Recorder with Scenes and Takes
Velocaption’s recorder detects available windows, webcams, microphones, and system audio out of the box. It captures each selected source as an independent file, organized into scenes you plan ahead and takes you can redo until you get it right.
How It Works
-
Create your scenes. Open the recorder and add scenes to the sidebar. Give each one a title and optional script notes (these feed the teleprompter during recording).
-
Choose your sources. Select which screen or window to capture, pick your webcam and mic, and enable system audio if you need it. Each source records to its own file: nothing is composited at capture time.
-
Record takes. Hit record to start the first take. If you stumble, stop and immediately record another take for the same scene. Move to the next scene when you’re satisfied.
-
Review and pick. After recording, the take review screen shows every take for every scene. Play them back, compare, and select the keeper for each scene.
- Route your footage. Send your selected takes directly to the silence remover or captions editor: or export the raw source files to disk.
Key Details
Four independent source files per take. Screen (video only), webcam (video only), mic (.m4a), and system audio (.m4a). If one source fails mid-recording, the others keep going.
macOS only, powered by ScreenCaptureKit. The recorder uses Apple’s native ScreenCaptureKit framework for screen and window capture. First launch will prompt for screen recording permission.
No re-encoding during routing. When you send takes to the silence remover or captions editor, Velocaption references the original files directly. No waiting for a re-export.
