Built-in Teleprompter for Screen Recording

Velocaption has a built-in teleprompter that displays your scene notes during recording. The text scrolls upward automatically at a speed you control: no second monitor or external app needed.

How It Works

  1. Write your script notes. In the scene setup, add notes to each scene. These notes are the teleprompter content: write exactly what you want to read.

  2. Start recording. When you begin recording a scene, the teleprompter strip appears anchored to the bottom of the screen. Your notes scroll upward automatically.

  1. Adjust speed and size. Use the WPM control to set scroll speed anywhere from 60 to 250 words per minute (default is 130). Tap the Aa button to cycle between three font sizes: 22px, 28px, and 36px.
  1. Pause and resume. Click anywhere on the teleprompter strip to pause scrolling. Click again to resume. Useful when you need a moment to demonstrate something on screen.

  2. Keep recording naturally. After 3 seconds of inactivity, the top and bottom control bars fade away: but the teleprompter stays visible. Your recording view stays clean while your script remains readable.

Key Details

Content comes from scene notes. The teleprompter doesn’t have its own text input. Write your script in the scene notes field during setup: the teleprompter reads from there directly.

Speed applies per session, not per scene. When you change the WPM or font size, it stays set for the rest of the recording session. Each scene starts scrolling from the top of its notes.

The strip is always anchored at the bottom. The teleprompter occupies a fixed 220px strip at the bottom of the recording view. It doesn’t overlay your screen capture area or interfere with the webcam PiP preview.
