Remove Silence from Video Automatically

Velocaption’s silence remover analyzes your mic audio to find silent sections, highlights them on a waveform timeline, and lets you cut them in one click or fine-tune each cut manually. Start with a Velocaption recording, or AirDrop iPhone clips to your Mac and multi-select them from Finder.

How It Works

1. Open files. Import any video or audio file, multi-select a Finder batch, or open a recording from Velocaption’s built-in recorder. The silence remover accepts both single-source files and multi-source bundles (screen + webcam + mic).

2. Detection runs automatically. The app extracts the mic audio track, analyzes it for silence, and marks every silent region on the waveform. Speech segments stay bright; silence is shaded.

3. Review and adjust. Scroll through the waveform to see what was detected. Each silent region becomes a clip you can delete, restore, or resize by dragging its edges.

4. One-click auto-cut. Press the auto-cut button to delete all detected silent regions at once. Or work through them manually: click a clip, press Delete.

5. Export or send to captions. Export each source with independent quality settings, or route the cleaned result directly into the captions editor for transcription, subtitles, reusable styles, overlays, and final export.

Key Details

Mic-based detection. Silence detection always runs on the mic track, even for multi-source recordings. The mic captures your voice most cleanly: system audio and screen audio would produce false positives. Cuts apply to all sources in sync.

Built-in denoise. A one-click denoiser strips background hum before detection, so the algorithm isn’t confused by fan noise or AC hum. Three strength levels: Gentle, Balanced, Aggressive.

Per-source export. When working with screen + webcam recordings, each source gets its own resolution and quality settings. Export them all in one pass into a named folder.
