Silence Remover

Remove Background Noise from Your Recording: One-Click Denoise

Remove Background Noise from Your Recording

One-click denoise built into the silence remover strips background hum, fan noise, and room tone from your mic track. Three strength levels let you balance noise removal against voice naturalness.

How It Works

  1. Activate denoise. Click the denoise toggle in the editor toolbar. The app processes your mic audio track to identify and suppress constant background noise patterns: fans, air conditioning, electrical hum, room tone.

  2. Choose a strength level. Three presets control how aggressively noise is suppressed:

    • Gentle (40dB): Removes light hiss and hum. Preserves voice completely. Best for quiet rooms with minor background noise.
    • Balanced (70dB): Handles most home-office noise: fans, AC units, refrigerators. Good default for most recordings.
    • Aggressive (100dB): Maximum suppression for noisy environments. May slightly affect voice timbre in exchange for a clean track.
  1. Enable post-filter for stubborn noise (optional). Toggle the post-filter for an extra processing pass. This catches residual noise that survives the main pass: useful when the noise source is inconsistent or overlaps with speech frequencies. Trade-off: slightly less natural voice quality in quiet passages.
  1. Detection improves automatically. Denoised audio feeds into silence detection. With background noise removed, the detector can use a lower threshold and still accurately distinguish speech from silence: fewer false positives, cleaner cuts.

Key Details

Denoise runs on the mic track only. System audio and screen audio are not processed. This is intentional: the mic track is where speech lives, and background noise in system audio (game sounds, music) should be preserved.

Applied before export. The denoised audio is what gets written to the output file. The original source file is never modified: denoise is applied in the export pipeline.

Start with Balanced. It handles the majority of real-world recording environments without audible artifacts. Move to Aggressive only if you can still hear noise after Balanced, and drop to Gentle if you notice the voice sounding processed.
