Floating Webcam Bubble in Video
Show your face in a draggable bubble overlay on top of your screen recording or other content. Pick the shape, roundness, and size. Crop to frame your face. Position the bubble differently for each scene: it smoothly glides between positions during playback.
How It Works
-
Enable the floating face: when your project includes webcam footage (from a recording bundle), the floating face option becomes available. The bubble appears on the video canvas.
-
Choose a shape: three aspect ratio options:
- Square (1:1): compact, works in corners
- Webcam (4:3): standard webcam proportions
- Tall (3:4): vertical, good for portrait layouts
-
Set roundness: three levels: none (sharp rectangle), modern (rounded corners), full (oval/circle). The roundness adjusts the border-radius proportionally to the shape.
- Crop the webcam feed: open the crop editor to select which portion of the webcam frame appears in the bubble. Reframe to center your face or adjust for headroom.
-
Set the size: adjust the bubble size as a percentage of the canvas height. Smaller for a subtle presence, larger for emphasis.
-
Position per scene: drag the bubble to different spots on the canvas for different scenes. When playback crosses scene boundaries, the bubble smoothly glides to the new position over ~333ms with an ease curve.
- Set the background: configure a background behind the bubble: solid color, gradient (from the gradient library), or an image (from the asset library).
Key Details
Per-scene positioning. Unlike a static watermark, the floating face can be in a different position for each scene in your video. This lets you avoid obscuring important on-screen content scene by scene.
Smooth ~333ms transitions. When the bubble changes position between scenes, it glides with an eased curve. No abrupt jumps. The transition also interpolates size and roundness if those change between scenes.
Box shadow for depth. The bubble renders with a configurable box shadow so it visually separates from the video content beneath it, regardless of the background color.
What’s Next
- Layout Backgrounds: set the background behind your video content and floating face
- Video Overlays (PiP): generic picture-in-picture for any video clip
- Landscape and Portrait Formats: floating face positioning is independent per format
