Set Caption and Text Overlay Defaults

Set defaults before the timeline fills up

Defaults control how new caption phrases and text overlays start. Use them early so you are not correcting every new layer by hand.

Good defaults to set

• Font and size for the normal caption reading experience.
• Text color and background for contrast against the video.
• Rounded background behavior if your captions use boxes.
• Text overlay style for titles, labels, and callouts.
• Preset choice when you reuse the same brand treatment across videos.

Recommended order

1. Pick the base caption style.
2. Set the default text overlay style.
3. Add a short preview phrase.
4. Check the preview on both bright and dark frames.
5. Save the style before adding many overlays.
