Caption Styling & Layouts

Custom Subtitle Styles

Custom Subtitle Styles

Build a caption style from scratch or start from a preset. Font, size, color, background, shadow, border, spacing: everything is configurable. Styles update live on the video preview and are saved to a library for reuse.

How It Works

  1. Open the style editor: click the style settings in the captions sidebar. The style editor panel shows all configurable properties.

  2. Configure text properties: set font family (from system fonts), font size, font weight, text color, and letter spacing. Changes reflect immediately on the video preview.

  1. Add background and effects: set a background color with adjustable opacity for readability. Add a text shadow (color, offset, blur) for depth. Configure a border/stroke around the text.

  2. Adjust layout properties: set line height for multi-line captions. Fine-tune letter spacing. The canvas text measurement engine recalculates word wrap in real-time.

  1. Save to style library: click save to add the style as a preset. The library shows visual thumbnails of each saved style. Load any preset on any project with one click.

Key Details

Live preview, identical export. The style rendering in the editor preview uses the same code path as the Remotion export. What you see is exactly what gets baked into the final video.

Built-in styles included. The asset library ships with starter styles. Use them as-is or as a starting point for your own.

Canvas-based text measurement. Font sizing and word wrap are calculated using an off-screen canvas: no DOM mutations, no layout thrashing. Works accurately with custom letter spacing and font weights.
