Batch Remove Background Noise from Audio and Video Files
Batch Remove Background Noise from Audio and Video Files
Clean up recordings with fan hum, AC buzz, or street noise. Drop files in, pick a strength level, and let the queue run. Works on both audio and video files: the audio track is extracted, denoised, and written back.
How It Works
-
Add files to the queue. Drag in audio or video files: all common formats are accepted: WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC, MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WebM.
-
Pick a strength level. Three options:
- Gentle (40 dB attenuation): light cleanup that preserves all voice nuance. Good for quiet rooms with minor ambient noise.
- Balanced (70 dB): handles most recording environments well. The default choice for interviews, podcasts, and screencasts.
- Aggressive (100 dB): for noisy environments like cafes or outdoor recordings. Trades some voice naturalness for a clean result.
-
Toggle the post-filter (optional). Adds an extra denoising pass for stubborn noise that survives the main pass. Useful for recordings with variable noise (e.g., intermittent traffic). Slight trade-off: voice can sound marginally less natural.
-
Start the queue. Files process one at a time. Progress tracks four stages: audio extraction (0-20%), denoising (20-60%), writing output (60-90%), and finalizing (90-100%).
- Find cleaned files next to the originals. Output paths are collision-safe: existing files are never overwritten.
Key Details
Start with Balanced. It handles the vast majority of recording scenarios. Switch to Gentle only if you hear voice artifacts, or Aggressive only if significant noise remains after Balanced.
Post-filter is off by default for a reason. It adds a second processing pass that can introduce subtle voice artifacts. Enable it only when the main pass leaves audible noise. Listen to the output before batch-processing a large folder with post-filter on.
Failed items can be retried. If a file fails (corrupt container, missing audio stream), it’s marked as error and the queue continues. Click the retry button to re-process individual items, or use the toolbar to retry all failed items.
