Extract Audio from Video Files in Batch
Pull the audio track out of video files without opening a DAW or writing FFmpeg commands. Three presets cover the most common use cases. Drop files in, pick a preset, start the queue.
How It Works
-
Add video files to the queue. Drag them in or use the file picker. Supports MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, and WebM.
-
Pick a preset from the settings panel. Three options:
- Transcription: 16 kHz, mono, PCM, WAV. Exactly what Whisper expects. Smallest files, fastest extraction.
- Podcast: 44.1 kHz, stereo, MP3 at 192 kbps. Compressed, widely compatible, good for distribution.
- Production: 48 kHz, stereo, 24-bit PCM (S24LE), WAV. Full fidelity for importing into a DAW.
- Start the queue. Each file extracts individually with its own progress bar. Output files are named with the preset suffix:
interview_transcription.wav,interview_podcast.mp3, orinterview_production.wav.
- Find your output files next to the originals. The naming is collision-safe: if a file with that name already exists, a numeric suffix is appended (
_1,_2).
Key Details
Output naming prevents overwrites. Each preset produces a distinct suffix (_transcription, _podcast, _production), so you can run multiple presets on the same files without conflicts. If an output file already exists, a counter is appended.
Custom settings are available. Beyond the three presets, you can manually set sample rate, channel count, codec, output format, and bitrate. The presets are starting points: adjust as needed.
Transcription preset pairs with Batch Transcription. Extract audio first with the Transcription preset, then feed the WAV files into Batch Transcription. Processing is faster on small mono WAV files than on full video containers.
