Music, Styles & Performance
Background music, word highlight modes, caption backgrounds, and a WYSIWYG preview for macOS video editing.
✨ Features
Background Music Library
You can now add tracks directly from the asset library. Velocaption supports a native background music library where loops are handled automatically. Trim tracks, set volume, and add fade-in or fade-out controls to blend music with the primary video audio.
Advanced Word Highlight Modes
Captions are now more engaging with new highlight modes. You can choose to highlight the current spoken word, both the current and previous words simultaneously for better readability, or disable highlights entirely. This gives you granular control over the visual rhythm of your captioning flow.
Rich Caption Backgrounds
Customization reaches a new level with multiple background styles. Choose from per-word animated boxes, full-width bands, or rounded text containers. Each style features configurable colors, opacity, border radius, and padding, ensuring your text overlays look premium and on-brand.
True WYSIWYG Preview
Our editor now features a true WYSIWYG preview that mirrors the Remotion export 1:1. See entry and exit animations in real-time, update styles live, and trust that your positioning exactly matches the final render. This eliminates guesswork and speeds up your video editing process.
⚡ Performance
High-Efficiency Caption Engine
Velocaption is now better at handling long videos. Deep architectural improvements ensure the editor stays fluid regardless of project length. Even hour-long content remains responsive during playback and scrubbing, making it the perfect tool for long-form creators.
Instant Layout Calculations
We’ve optimized word layout measurements to be pre-computed during idle time. This means the playhead never triggers a “cold” layout calculation, making segment switching and style editing feel instant.
Optimized State Management
Caption segment state is now stored as an entity map for O(1) word lookups. By drastically reducing re-renders, editing a single word no longer requires refreshing the entire segment list, providing a snappier experience for professional editors.
