Velocaption v1.5.1 introduces Image Overlays and a global Asset Library, bringing professional branding capabilities to your video editing workflow on macOS. This update is essential for creators who want to add logos, watermarks, and high-quality graphics to their viral clips.
🎨 Image Overlays for Professional Branding
You can now import and place images (PNG, JPG, WEBP) directly onto your video timeline. Whether you’re adding a watermark for copyright protection or social media icons to drive engagement, you have full control over opacity, rotation, scale, and positioning. This ensures your branding is always pixel-perfect and consistent.
📚 Global Asset Library
Stop re-importing the same files for every new project. Our new Global Asset Library allows you to manage all your reusable brand assets in one central hub. Import your logos once, and they become instantly available across all your future Velocaption projects, significantly speeding up your video production process.
🛠️ Improvements & Stability
- Asset Library System: Built with robust Zustand persistence, your library is saved securely across sessions. We’ve also added a dedicated library dialog for quick insertion of assets.
- Timeline Visualization: The timeline now clearly distinguishes between Text and Media overlays with distinct icons. Smart visibility logic ensures the interface stays clean by hiding icons on very small segments.
- Overlay Editor Polish: We’ve refined the editor with a new 2-column grid for precise controls and implemented auto-scroll synchronization to keep your active segment in view.
- Native macOS Links: All external links now use Tauri’s
openUrlfor safer handoff to your default browser.
♻️ Technical Refactoring
We’ve performed a major cleanup of the overlay editor logic and standardized our internal type system to support more complex overlay types in the future. We’ve also modernized our linting configuration by migrating to eslint.config.js.
