Version 1.7.0

Engine Stability & Silence Remover Polish

Velocaption v1.7.0 delivers a rock-solid video engine and major refinements to the Silence Remover interaction for macOS creators.

Highlights

🛡️ Stabilized Video Engine for macOS

After rigorous testing, we’ve optimized our core video playback engine for maximum stability. By combining the time-tested reliability of our legacy logic with the precision of our modern audio synchronization layer, we’ve eliminated the stuttering issues previously seen after silence skips and clip transitions. This ensures a professional macOS video editing experience without compromise.

  • Passive Audio Sync: Video remains the master clock, with audio renderers following with millisecond precision, preventing any drift.
  • Improved Performance: Reduced overhead in the playback loop for smoother high-speed playback and faster responsiveness.
  • Frame-Perfect Accuracy: Every cut and transition is now handled with the precision required for high-quality social media content creation.

✂️ Silence Remover: Multi-Clip Precision

A major update for projects with multiple clips, enhancing your silence removal workflow:

  • Coordinate Mapping Fix: Resolved a critical bug where dragging segments in non-first clips would incorrectly calculate their positions. This makes multi-clip editing rock-solid.
  • Interaction Layering: Adjusted UI stacking so “Keep” segments are always easier to grab and resize than background silence regions, speeding up your manual trimming.
  • Visual Stability: Waveforms and segments no longer “jump” or disappear when clicking near clip boundaries.

Improvements & Fixes

  • Refined Skimming: Restored interactive timeline scrubbing with audible audio feedback (“chirps”).
  • Playhead Separation: The main playhead (red) now correctly stays at its committed position while you scrub the timeline with the skimmer (white).
  • Keyboard Shortcuts:
    • Nudge: Use Shift + Arrows (start) and Alt + Arrows (end) to fine-tune keep segments by 50ms.
    • Quick Merge: New buttons for merging segments with their left/right neighbors.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed a syntax error in the engine initialization that could prevent the player from mounting in certain environments.
  • UI Consistency: Standardized headers across all feature pages for a more premium, cohesive feel.

Technical Details

  • Re-integrated GaplessVideoEngine legacy core with modern ITimeSource and IMediaRenderer interfaces.
  • Implemented SkimmingController for decoupled audio scrubbing.
  • Fixed global-to-local coordinate conversion in SegmentOverlay drag handlers.
  • Standardized the use of isPreview flags in seek operations to prevent UI state flickering.
