Format Variants
Adds opt-in landscape and portrait caption format variants with format-aware export settings.
Feature release focused on making multi-format caption projects production-ready. Projects can keep separate landscape and portrait layouts, styles, resolutions, and overlay overrides while preserving the existing single-format project path.
This release also includes the release-blocking fixes found during final smoke testing after the version bump.
Improvements
- Format variants - added an opt-in preview switch for landscape and portrait caption versions, including format-specific caption layouts, active styles, animations, and overlay overrides.
- Format-aware export settings - export resolution now follows the selected export format variant, with confirmation before creating a missing format.
- Variant persistence - project save/load now preserves format variant state and migrates legacy projects into a single active variant.
- Caption and overlay resolution - caption tracks, translated captions, overlay crops, and preview rendering now resolve the active format variant before falling back to legacy project data.
- Export and inspector polish - export controls and inspector state now handle variant-aware projects without replacing shared project settings.
Stability
- Recorder processed-take save - fixed processed review saves so takes with background noise removal and/or silence removal commit successfully before the recorder advances out of review.
- Static screen recordings - normalized screen recordings to the canonical take duration by extending the final appended screen frame when the screen track ends early.
- Processed media cleanup - cleanup now pads short video sources to the required kept timeline before strict validation, while preserving strict audio validation and cleanup of temporary denoise artifacts on failure.
- Recorder scene state - fixed saved-take transitions so the scene strip is populated only after a real committed scene exists, avoiding the empty-strip idle state seen during failed saves.
- Caption generation crash - fixed caption generation and regeneration
controls so partial or stale per-overlay caption data without
rawWordsis treated as missing captions instead of crashing withdata.rawWords. - Landscape format export - fixed landscape exports from portrait-origin projects so the selected landscape variant produces a landscape-shaped video instead of reusing stale portrait dimensions.

- Added regression coverage for creating derived format variants, resolving variant-specific captions and overlays, and preserving variant state through persistence.
- Added export settings coverage for switching export formats and confirming missing format creation.
- Added captions navbar coverage for the format switch.
- Added recorder cleanup coverage for video padding, strict duration validation, denoise temporary cleanup, processed-take commits, saved-take toasts, and filmstrip state.
- Added caption generation coverage for partial per-overlay caption data that is
missing
