Overlay Duration & Sizing Fixes
Media overlays now keep their full duration and use aspect-aware sizing for portrait footage on landscape canvases.
Precise Overlay Durations & Smart Canvas Sizing
In this update, we’ve focused on refining the core video editing experience by guaranteeing your media behaves exactly as expected. Whether you’re working on dynamic captioning or bringing your video creation ideas to life, these fixes offer a smoother, more reliable workflow on macOS.
Full-length Media Overlays We’ve removed the hardcoded 3-second cap that affected video and audio overlays when dragged onto the timeline. Your dropped b-roll and audio tracks will now intelligently use their full natural duration, automatically clamping to your project’s end. This allows for a much faster editing process without needing to constantly stretch small overlay clips manually.
Aspect-Aware Sizing for Images and Video Adding different media orientations to your timeline is now smarter. Dragging a portrait video or a high-resolution image onto a landscape canvas will no longer cause vertical overflow. Instead, Velocaption probes the source dimensions to apply an aspect-aware default width (30% for portrait, 50% for landscape). This intelligent resizing ensures your visual elements fit gracefully on the canvas immediately.
Reliable Timeline Interface To keep your local AI editing workspace organized, we’ve fixed a visual glitch where specific timeline sections could appear entirely track-less. Every section (text, media, audio) now guarantees at least one visible track lane, making drag-and-drop operations foolproof and preventing any section from unexpectedly looking empty.
