Audio Skimming, Batch Denoise & Playback Sync
Audio skimming, batch denoise, and playback sync improvements for faster editing on macOS.
Pro-Level Audio Skimming & Playback Sync
We’ve refined the core playback engine to deliver a much more tactile editing experience. The new audio skimming feature brings Final Cut Pro-style audio previews to Velocaption — simply scrub the timeline ruler to hear your audio in real-time. To ensure a clean experience, playback automatically pauses during scrubbing to prevent overlapping audio streams.
Alongside skimming, we’ve implemented gap-hold playback synchronization. The playhead now intelligently pauses at timeline gaps while the video decoder catches up, effectively eliminating sync drift between your audio and video frames. We’ve also throttled timeline scrubbing via RequestAnimationFrame (RAF) to maintain a smooth UI without overwhelming your Mac’s hardware.
Efficiency with Batch Denoise & Selection
Managing multiple clips is now faster than ever. We’ve added checkboxes to the ClipBin for easy clip selection, paired with a smart, context-aware toolbar. When multiple clips are selected, you can trigger a batch denoise action that processes your entire selection in a single operation. This streamlined workflow is a massive time-saver for projects with multiple takes or multi-camera setups.
Multi-File Import & Smart Rendering
Importing your assets is now truly drag-and-drop. You can now drop multiple files directly onto the dashboard. Velocaption validates all files instantly, navigates you to the editor with the first clip, and keeps the remaining files ready for import via a transient store.
The silence remover player has also been upgraded with per-clip dimension awareness. Instead of relying on project-level resolution, it now reads the probed dimensions of each individual clip. This means multi-resolution projects — such as a mix of portrait webcam footage and landscape screen captures — will now display perfectly without unwanted black bars or scaling issues.
Technical Refinements
- Simplified Caption Rendering: We’ve refactored the
CaptionRendererto derive frame math entirely from Remotion’suseCurrentFrame, removing the complexsegmentStartTimedependency for more reliable caption positioning. - Clean Infrastructure: Version bump to 3.4.1 across
package.json,tauri.conf.json, andCargo.toml. We’ve also cleaned up stale scratch files likenotes.mdto keep the repository lean.
